Day 1: Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe or Kampala
On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, meet the company representative that has come to welcome you into the Pearl of Africa. They will brief you about what you should expect on your 14 days safari as you transfer to the hotel. The company representive helps you check in at your hotel and gives you programme for the next day. Freshen up and have your dinner then later on rest.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls national park
After having breakfast at the hotel, your safari guide for the trip picks you up to leave for Murchison falls national park. Drive through busy Kampala suburbs going northwards and have your first stop over at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. Looking out for the endangered rhinos on foot at this sanctuary is an enjoyable adventure that also gives a chance to see other wildlife such as birds and antelopes. After tracking, we drive to Masindi for lunch and thereafter proceed the park and check in at the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game drive, boat cruise in the afternoon and hike to the top of the falls
Rise up early morning and prepare to go for the game drive. You will have an early breakfast and then hit the trails of the park to look out for the early grazers plus predators before they return to their dens. Expect to see lots of buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s hartebeest, waterbucks and giraffes among others. Lions, leopards and hyenas are some of the sightings often spotted in Murchison. After about 4 hours of the drive, we return to the lodge. Freshen up, relax, have lunch and then head to the Nile for the boat cruise.
The 2 hours boat cruise offers an opportunity to see more of the wildlife here including hippos, crocodiles and lots of birds. The highlight for the ride is to have the frontal view of the mighty Murchison falls. After this, those going for the hike disembark from the boat and hike to the top of the falls where they enjoy the thunderous vibration of the ground caused by the strong water falls. The driver picks you from this point and transfers you to the lodge. Have dinner and relax
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale national park
This day is entirely for transferring to Kibale. We check out of the lodge as we have our breakfast and set off for our next destination. We drive along a scenic route that offers breathtaking views of the landscape and we arrive at our lodge in Kibale in the evening.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland nature walk
Rise up to a delightful breakfast at your lodge and move to Kanyanchu Visitors Centre where we are briefed before embarking on any activity. Briefing about chimp tracking here and thereafter penetrate into the forest with a ranger guide to search for our interesting cousins. Once spotted, we are allowed to stay with them for a maximum of one hour to observe them play, interact and feed as we take pictures to always remember this thrilling moment. We leave the forest and return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon hours will be used to explore Bigodi swamp by going for a guided nature walk. It rewards with interesting birds, a few primates and sometimes other mammals are sighted. Return to the lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Wake up at your leisure for breakfast, check out and set off for Queen Elizabeth national park. This journey is full of wonderful scenic views right from Kibale, Fort Portal throughout to Kasese with beautiful views of the Rwenzori ranges to Queen Elizabeth national park. Depending on the time of arrival, we have lunch at the lodge or en-route. We explore the park in the evening for a chance to sight lions, leopard or hyena and various grazers. Then drive back to the lodge for dinner and the overnight stay.
Day 7: Morning game drive & Kazinga channel boat cruise
We start it with an early breakfast, head out to Kasenyi plains for a game drive where we spot lots of animals including Uganda kobs, waterbucks, elephants, warthogs and we also expect to spot lions, leopard or hyena. We end the game drive with a visit to the Bunyampaka Salt Lake. Get back to the logde, relax abit, have lunch and head out for the boat cruise on Kazinga channel. Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants and numerous birds are seen during the boat cruise.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park via Ishasha
We set off for Bwindi after having breakfast at our lodge, driving via the Ishasha sector where we shall look around for our luck to spot some tree climbing lions. Continue with the joueny to the Bwindi forest with lunch enroute. Check in at the lodge, have dinner and rest.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking and Community walk
The gorilla trekking adventure starts with a briefing as early as 8am, we are therefore expected to be at the trek starting point earlier. Make sure you have your lunch and water packed because we do not know how long it will take us to come across the gorillas. Each group of 8 people is led by a ranger guide into the forest to areas where the gorillas are expected to be roaming. Once they are spotted, we are allowed to stay with them for an hour. We use this precious time to observe how they behave and we also take pictures. Other residents of the forest such as monkeys and other mammals may be sighted. We return to our starting point to end the trek and go to the lodge. Have lunch and later on in the evening go for a community walk for a cultural experience with the Batwa, interact with them and have fun dancing to their traditional dances and music. Return to the lodge, have dinner and rest.
Day 10: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
We wake up to a yummy breakfast to say goodbye to the misty environment of Bwindi, so we check out. Drive to Lake Bunyonyi for the canoe ride. This is a wonderful way to explore the lake and the surrounding. The tour involves visiting some islands, interacting with the locals to know more about how they carry on their activities, enjoy their traditional dances or probably take a hike. We return to the lodge late afternoon and relax. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park
Enjoy your breakfast as you checkout to transfer to our next destination- Lake Mburo national park. On this four hours’ journey, our stop over point is the Igongo Cultural center in Mbarara where we learn something about the culture and history of the Banyankole and also have our lunch. Continue to the park and go for boat cruise on Lake Mburo where travelers enjoy sights of hippos, crocodiles and a few other mammals. The numerous bird species on the banks are a high impression for all bird lovers on the boat. Next, we transfer to the lodge, check in, have dinner and rest.
Day 12: Nature walk and a community walk
Have breakfast and then a morning walk with an armed ranger guide taking us through the savannah ecosystems. This is a great opportunity of exploring the park on foot, watching sightings like giraffes, Burchell’s zebra, impalas, waterbucks and warthogs among others. Take as much pictures of this wildlife plus the beautiful landscape of the park. After this adventure, we return to the lodge for lunch and relax. Later on in the evening, we head out for the Enyemebwa cultural center for an insight of the life of the locals here; it is an exploration of the thatched huts and the unique views of cattle kraals and banana plantations. The traditional performances by the locals here are very enjoyable and make the evening amazing.
Day 13: Transfer to Kampala
As we prepare to leave Lake Mburo, we get a tasty breakfast at our lodge, then set off for Kampala. Stop over at the equator in Kayabwe, straddle at the equator landmark for a pic, go for the water experience about the south and north pole and sit at the restaurant for lunch. We continue the return journey to Kampala where we spend our night.
Day 14: Kampala city tour
This is our precious last day of touring Uganda. It starts with breakfast at the lodge, then head for a city tour around Kampala the capital of Uganda. Places to visit include the Uganda national museum to see the ethnological and traditional life collections of Uganda, the Namugongo martyrs shrine to see where the martyrs were killed, the Kabaka’s palace and the Kasubi tombs to learn about the culture and history of Buganda. At the end of the tour, the safari guide takes you to the airport so you can catch your flight or drop you at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
